Keywords – Importance of keywords in optimization

The most important part of search engine optimization(SEO) is the task of optimizing keywords as they are the connecting element between the users(searchers) and the search engines. Keywords optimization helps in filtering of the results down to what is exactly needed by the user. It also helps in enhancing the searching capacity of the search engine, makes searching easier and enhances the quality of a website. Keywords are  not only vital in optimization but also provide an easy one step way for websites to make their ranking better with the search engines. If a site  lacks keyword optimization, the chances of it being found through a search engine becomes negligible in spite of  it’s content being of good quality. It can be compared to losing one’s way in spite of making the best efforts because of choosing the wrong path. Good ranking in a search engine listing ensure more traffic to a site and therefore better earning from that particular site.

Regarding importance of key words in optimization, it’s necessary to be specific. Having vague keywords can act as a big drawback for any site and its ranking as well as success. Being factual and objective is important for good search results as well as web site progress. The process of attaining keywords optimization first of all involves discovering keywords that apply directly to one’s web site’s content. It’s recommended to provide varied and good quantity of information regarding each keyword. To optimize e sites resourcefulness and make the most of its content, it’s recommended to make enough keywords to cover all the web content and use different keywords for different pages. Analyzing their viability, rejecting the unpopular keywords, selecting the keywords which are most popularly searched in the other popular websites using tools like Google‘s AD Word and Keyword tools are also good optimization techniques. Another point to be kept in mind regarding keyword optimization is to keep the number of keywords in between fifteen to twenty per page and making sure that each keyword is two to three phase long for better optimization.

Furthermore, when discussing importance of keywords in optimization, the benefits of keyword density and long tail keywords are immense. Keyword density means the number of times the keyword appears as a percentage of the total number of words per page. The preferred keyword density is 5%. Having a good key word density makes the site more search engine friendly. It’s easy to maintain a good keyword density in case of short tail keyword(i.e. keywords 2 to 3 words in length), but in case of long tail keywords, it becomes difficult to maintain the same density with ease. Long tail keywords are used to decrease competition. The competition against long tail keywords is 30 times less as compared to short tail keywords. So to escape the fiercely competitive market of short tail key words, using long tail keywords is a difficult but safer option for a web site’s success. Having a good keyword density and using long tail keywords are again good tools for optimization
